Turnitin improves students’ writing skills by providing rich feedback and preventing plagiarism. It encourages original writing within a certain time frame. Today’s educators and administrators try to encourage students to use information correctly, thoughtfully and legally. With accessibility to billions of internet resources, students can copy and paste entire paragraphs of a resource in one second. This, combined with the emphasis on performance and assessment, has led to an increased use of non-original content in student research and articles.
The password required for academics who want to use Turnitin is provided by the Library. Those who want to use the program should send their name, surname and e-mail address to the address kutuphane@altinbas.edu.tr.

iThenticate
In order to detect plagiarism in academic studies (excluding student assignments), the iThenticate program is made available to faculty members only by ULAKBİM. iThenticate’s repository includes academic databases, journals and publications, and more than 17 billion web pages.
Academicians who want to use the program are given a password by the Library. Those who want to get a password are kindly requested to send their name, surname and e-mail address to the address kutuphane@altinbas.edu.tr.
Within the scope of TÜBİTAK EKUAL, negotiations regarding the iThenticate database, whose subscription has continued since 2011, were concluded and a license agreement was signed.
In accordance with the signed license agreement; Various restrictions have been imposed on the use of the iThenticate system.
As of now, only people with a doctorate or higher degree at universities will be allowed to use the Ithenticate program. In addition, the control of student assignments, projects and theses, and the control of articles sent to any journal editor for publication, whether commercial or not, should not be done through the system. For such needs, the Turnitin program we subscribe to should be used.
